— Tampa Bay is hoping Victor Hedeman will be a boost to its blue line this season.
Hedman scored eight goals and added seven assists in 20 games last season.
The 21-year-old left wing will get a chance to help fill a hole at the top of the Lightning’s blue line.
The team said Tuesday it has signed Hedman, a fifth-round draft pick from 2015, to a one-year contract worth $650,000.
The deal comes on the heels of a $500,000 contract the team signed to get winger Nikita Kucherov signed to a four-year deal.
Hedy has scored three goals in eight games with Tampa Bay this season, and was selected to the NHL All-Rookie team.
He was the only Lightning player to make it onto the All-Star team last season, after going 13-5-3.
The Lightning are 5-8-4 since the All Star break.
